Synopsis
In the quarantine of 2020, Hollywood couple Adam and Eiryn find themselves drifting apart while confined to their tiny apartment. Consumed by the nonstop news cycle of racial tensions and protests in the streets, Adam is jolted from his daze one night by a brick through the window that triggers an online impulse buy on a house… in a small Southern town.
Their fairytale fresh start takes a turn down a dirt road though when, upon pulling into their new driveway, Adam and Eiryn are hit by a drunk driver — Everett, their new neighbor next door.
With Adam out of work and Everett without a driver’s license now, the two end up stuck together as Adam becomes Everett’s assistant in his mobile carpet cleaning business. Navigating the rural South between house calls, their road trips spiral from political bickering to heated arguments to moments of unexpected connection. Unavoidably, the truth about the tragedy that caused them to meet how and when they did reveals itself, and Adam and Everett find themselves relying on each other for more than survival.
Through humor, pain, and a friendship born out of a civil war between two neighbors, Adam n’ Everett explores what can happen when people from opposing sides are forced to face themselves by facing each other in the Divided States of America.
A Note from the Writer-Director
Whether we tend to lean left or right, all of us lost someone from the table due to 2020. Letting what was on our screens dictate how we dealt with the people in our own lives took its toll. It’s time to laugh about it. So here is the story of two neighbors divided by politics who are forced into the hell of having to help one another. “Adam n’ Everett” is my hug to the world, my ode to our country, and my love letter to the dirty South. I hope it brings you some needed laughs and helps you to consider maybe calling an old friend, even if you still disagree with how they’d personally rule the world.
